The cuckoo clock of 2020 will be chosen in Trossingen

The Museum Auberlehaus starts after the corona break with a special exhibition about the cuckoo clock and the exhibition of the cuckoo clocks that are eligible for the “Cuckoo Clock of the Year” award.

The host is the Museum Auberlehaus in Trossingen. The small town of Trossingen is located on the edge of the Black Forest and is this year's venue for the election of the “Cuckoo Clock of the Year”.

In the special exhibition, a total of 120 cuckoo clocks can be admired, many of which are on loan from the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen. A wide variety of models can be seen, such as the valuable frame clock with cuckoo by Johann Baptist Beha or contemporary models. There is also enough information about the history and construction of the cuckoo clocks. Machines and parts such as the clock springs, the carving tools, the series pipes or a 120 year old machine for making the chains can be discovered.

Choosing the “Cuckoo Clock of the Year”

In addition to the special exhibition, 6 manufacturers of original Black Forest clocks are making their twelve best clocks available to choose from this year. The organizer of this award is Black Forest Clock Association (VdS), which launched the award in 2001. Every visitor to the museum can vote. Everyone who has cast their vote also has the chance to win their own watch.

Past hosts of the award include the gate tower of Hohenzollern Castle, the Dorotheehütte in Wolfach and the Europapark Rust.
Jürgen Clute, managing director of the Schonacher cuckoo clock factory Anton Schneider & Söhne GmbH, also visited the exhibition with his family. The traditional cuckoo clock manufacturer won 2019nd prize with the clock in 2 Black Forest Dream (8TMT 1020/9), 2014 1st prize with the clock After work (8TMT 3170/9) and in 2007 with the clock Half-timbered house and bell tower (8TMT 1565/9).
