Making your own cuckoo clock
The clock museum in Furtwangen enables small and large groups to have a fascinating experience by giving them the chance to make custom cuckoo clocks in a creative and fun atmosphere. The manufacture of cuckoo clocks takes place under the guidance of experienced watchmakers who will guide the participants through every step of the process. The materials needed, such as a pre-made wooden body, weights, a dial with hands, batteries and a pendulum, are provided to ensure each participant has everything they need to create their own working cuckoo clock.

Before the production, the participants get a tour of the museum. The museum presents the history of the Black Forest watchmaking trade. The origins of the craft are dated back to the 17th century, but the exact date and location are unknown.
Black Forest clocks were sold worldwide in the 18th century. They were popular due to their attractive price and mass production.
