Original cuckoo clocks produce all sounds by raising the weights. A shutdown or even a night shutdown allows you to switch off these sounds like the typical cuckoo call or even the music. This allows these watches to be hung calmly near bedrooms without disturbing sleep.

There are two ways to turn off the sounds:

• the manual impact shutdown
• the automatic night shutdown

The third existing shutdown is the light sensor stroke shutdown and is not installed in original SW watches, as they are powered by batteries.

With a manual impact shut-off, there is a lever on the housing which enables the shut-off. Here the sound can either be switched on or off.
